Can't stop. Won't stop. uh uh uh uh
A couple more gifs in the can!
But what am I?
Boing - Boing
I'm really having a great time with the random nature of the film. No boarding and no real planning has made it such a refreshing change from the structure that was a large part of grad school. Also with no real deadlines or anything, I can just sit back and have fun. I'll try to be better about posting newer gifs, but I do want to keep some surprises for when I actually finish the film.
And now, back to the grind.

Art Student... Two more gifs in the can!
For some reason it's far easier to work on things, when thesis is not in the title...
Again another shot to match the words of the song. I could add a video, but the song isn't ready for that yet... Enjoy a stationary man with paint goo...

Boom Chow....Boom Boom Chow
Recently I've been playing around with Photoshop, trying to wrap my head around some 2d animation. Lot of work, but pretty fun so far. Above is a gif from a possible music short idea.

The Leafy Terror
After finally reading and finishing Understanding Comics by Scott McCloud, a very inspiring read about the art, styles, and tropes behind modern comics, I felt compelled to try my own hand at the sequential media. I was not prepared for how long it would take and so I definitely had to scale down in the end. What you see above is my first attempt at an extremely short comic based on the old sketch below.
This rough idea was a quick drawing I threw together while travelling last summer. Mathilde and I went on a hike up to the border of France and Italy, which, I've been told, is considered beautiful and romantic by some. I mean look at that:There are trees and grass and stuff.
But sadly a big part of my memory, as with many other trips I've taken into the all consuming dark maw of Mother Nature's bosom, is dominated more by the fears and perils seen on the journey.
The mild and slightly humid heat of the early afternoon sun, causing torrents of salty fluids to escape my body, completely drenching my clothes. The blood-chilling and spirit-breaking feeling as the strands of spider webs caress the exposed skin. The incessant buzzing, cawing, mooing, barking, and chirping of the forest's unforgiving predators. How can one not help but question the existence of God amid all these horrors? With all this exercise?
Well anyway, thankfully I made it back alive and I felt the need to share my harrowing tale.
The idea for later is to redraw the initial sketch so that it can be more of a complete piece. Or have a job. Really, either works for me.
Until next time!

The Return of the Crimson Baker
The Crimson Baker Strikes Again
Meahahahahahaaa
I am free!!!!
They thought they could lock me away...keep me silent, in that horrid jail of theirs. Bound and shackled to the other rejects of society, they had hoped that the world would once again be safe from harm, safe from destruction, safe from buttery goodness.
...
Don't they know they should have killed me?

A Taste of France Part 02: Meet me at the Cafe
One thing I loved to do most was to sit down at a cafe an draw the people that were sitting near us. Gave me some much needed practice and proved to be really relaxing in the end.
Ah...To be young and dumb....
Old Man (i'm tired okay)
I loved this guy and he was so expressive. I really wish I had more time to draw him.
Just fleshed out a quick idea

The Sniffles !!!!
I had a strange dream yesterday of a plague in the future caused by one meek alien who just happened to have a cold. And so I bring you:

Yeezus Inspiration
A Black Skinhead
I know I'm not in the majority, but I actually really did like this album. Really harsh and rough in a way that felt fresh to my tired bubblegum pop music ears. The beats are enough to keep me coming back.
What's more important about this drawing is that I finally was drawing with the grey markers and, as I said before, I LOVE THEM. Still haven't really gotten over my fear of using colors, but I'm enjoying these new markers.
Voodoo Daddy
Voodoo Daddy
I made this guy while listening to the album on my 12 hour plane ride back to the U.S. At some point the songs would blend together and before I knew it, I had listened to the album 3 times in a row. Either way, I love these markers.
A Taste of France Part 01: Rainy Days
It's been a long time since I last posted in this blog. I was deep in the fun of thesis and really didn't even have the time to enjoy drawing at all. BUT, now that it is over, POST TIME!
I took a month long trip to France and, while having a lot of fun, I was also able to get back to drawing. Oh and it rained all the time so sometimes drawings was the best option. They may not all be good, but I'm still in the practice makes perfect mode. Let's do this!
Diggie
A great part of my trip was spent hanging around three crazy cats. Never really having pets myself, it was definitely a new experience. Diggie was the talkative plant eater. Shed like crazy, but she was pretty nice.
Mali
Honestly this was my favorite cat.
Not Pictured
The third cat I would never see because it was terrified of me.

KIRBY: The KING
We played a lot of Smash Bros during the trip. I wouldn't have had that any way.
Thesis IS FINALLY OVER!!!!
Sorry that it took me so long to post, but now that thesis is over, I have all the time in the world!
As some may have already seen, I've made a poster for my thesis film with the help of one Jovanna Tosello.

Below I've also included the trailer for my thesis. Wish me luck with the festival battle!
Soon I will also post some of my drawings from my mini vacation.

Tin Thesis 4: More colors!
This week I've been working more on thesis and had less time for side drawing. Feel like I"m being pulled in many directions, but still having fun for now. Thought I'd include some of concept stills for more thesis work. The following are style sheets from the cutout section of the piece. Definitely the livelier part of it all.

Purple is Burning
Couldn't find a pen in class and so I introduce, a STUDY IN PURPLE MARKER! I actually did have a lot of fun playing around with patterns using the fat tip of the marker. Oh and I just watched Paris is Burning. Amazing.

Tin Concepts 3: Love And All the pretty Colors
I've been trying to get back some of my drive to work on thesis after a much needed mental break. For this week's post I decided to post some of my concept/style frames. During the middle of the film there will be a cutout section and also possibly a little paint animation. Below are some of the concepts.
Dancing in the Street
Ain't no Mountain
Like a Bridge over Troubled Waters
