Tin Thesis 4: More colors!

This week I've been working more on thesis and had less time for side drawing.  Feel like I"m being pulled in many directions, but still having fun for now.  Thought I'd include some of concept stills for more thesis work.  The following are style sheets from the cutout section of the piece.  Definitely the livelier part of it all.

Purple is Burning

Couldn't find a pen in class and so I introduce, a STUDY IN PURPLE MARKER!  I actually did have a lot of fun playing around with patterns using the fat tip of the marker.  Oh and I just watched Paris is Burning.  Amazing.
AND ANOTHER LATE POST.....tell no one.

Tin Concepts 3: Love And All the pretty Colors

I've been trying to get back some of my drive to work on thesis after a much needed mental break. For this week's post I decided to post some of my concept/style frames.  During the middle of the film there will be a cutout section and also possibly a little paint animation.  Below are some of the concepts.

People Looking to the Left

With school starting again, I've been passing my time in classes the best way I can.  I completely forgot how long 3-4 hours felt...

And now we commence the first installment of DRAWING IN CLASS. I'll try to come up with a better name in the future.  Probably won't.

And then we follow up with another piece from an extended plane ride from france.

Anna and her Fluffy

The girl in front of me had a gigantic plush dog and I had to do something with it.  I never saw her face, so I had to wing it...

Tin Concepts 2: Portraits

Portraits of James and Jill.
Needed a basic idea of what I wanted for the characters and so there you go.  The backgrounds are just photoshop treated paintings of Justin Bua (an amazing painter. check him out)  and it really helped inspire me for the initial mood of the piece.  I was also trying to test out possible color pallets for the more exaggerated sections of the film.

And of course you need a sad version.

First Official Post! (of course it's late)

A glimpse of France.  Thanks to my travelling companies, I started drawing again on my trip.  While we were in a famous museum I can't remember the name of (internet tells me that it was the Orsey), I did some sketches to pass the time.

The sculpture was Ugolin by Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux and I loved it.
I could have spent all day drawing that thing. Honestly, I didn't get to see much of the museum because of it.

Oh and a foot.

A Drawing A Week: Let's Do This!

As a way to keep me drawing, I've decided to use this blog (yes another one) to post my sketches and drawings.  Because of the hectic nature, that is this summer, I'm only going to be able to post once a week, but you can expect a new post to go up every  Sunday.  It may be random, a concept design for a future project, or just a quick sketch because I ran out of time.

I hope to make it more frequent in the future, but you have to start somewhere. Well here's hoping I can keep up with it all this time!

To start it out right, two submissions this week
(one now and one on Sunday :) )
